Postdoc modeler position at UCL Research Department of Infection and Population Health
Salary (inclusive of London allowance): £33,353 - £36,161 per annum
Duration: 12 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Associate in Modelling. The post is based in the Department of Infection and Population Health at UCL Mortimer Market Centre. The post holder will report directly to Professor Ibrahim Abubakar, but will also work closely with the CIDE research team and collaborators within the Respiratory Diseases Department and the Modelling and Economics Unit at Public Health England.
The post is a combination of academic and research design work. It provides a unique opportunity for a researcher to participate in research specific to health economic evaluations alongside trials and other large observational studies of tuberculosis and hepatitis C infection. In addition, the applicant will provide advice to academics and clinicians who are developing proposals for funding and provide academic input into their studies. It will attract a person with skills in mathematical modelling with interest in health economics who would like to develop their own research ideas as well as advise others.
Requirements:
A PhD (or equivalent) or relevant experience in mathematical modelling or related discipline.
A strong background in modelling and statistics with some experience in epidemiology and/or health care related research would be an advantage. Experience in modelling or related methodological development and research experience in a medical-related field. Familiarity with analysis of large datasets with experience of evaluating models of health service delivery and care. Knowledge of health economic aspects of study design, particularly with regard to cohort studies and service evaluations with an awareness of key research issues in health economics. Knowledge of statistical packages and software packages commonly used in economic evaluations.
