Essential Functions
Position is responsible for project management, data collection, implementation and project evaluation for “Enhancing evidence-based diabetes control among local health departments.” This is a time limited position with an expected end date of Summer 2021.
Project management
• Serve as primary project contact person for faculty, consultants, other researchers, the University, and governmental and non-governmental organizations, etc.
• Manage subcontracts and consultants
• Create or supervise production of appropriate project tools and materials
• Prepare regular progress reports and final reports for funding agency
• Manage budgetary expenditures in cooperation with PRC-StL Financial Manager
• Provide day-to-day oversight of project activities and communications
• Develop and implement project timelines and coordinate project meetings
Manage project evaluation and research
• Collect, manage, and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data
• Recruit and retain project participants
• Actively disseminate project components and findings: prepare summaries, present at scientific conferences, participate in preparation of manuscripts
• Evaluate dissemination activities in conjunction with Principal Investigator (PI)
Supervisory/personnel management
• Hire, oversee, and provide day-to-day management and guidance for research assistants
• Maintain regular communication with and among PI, project consultants, and other investigators
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant work experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and statistical data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, NVIVO)
• A strong interest in learning about and performing training and research in public health practice
• Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Experience in curriculum development, education, and/or training programs
• The ability to maintain records, files, and supplies; to manage one's own schedule; to complete work by deadlines; and to work without supervision in certain settings
• Demonstrated superior writing and editing skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, public health practitioners, public affairs, and health and news organizations
• Strong analytic skills and the ability to think strategically and programmatically
• Ability to represent the project effectively with agencies, consultants, students, and community groups
• Ability to work independently and exercise outstanding judgment
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a complex organizational environment
• Ability to manage the projects budget and resources
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Public Health or other related degree is strongly preferred
• Experience working in or with a local health department
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Experience with planning and organization of multi-day events
• Experience with dissemination and implementation research
• Supervisory experience
• Understanding and knowledge of public health terminology
Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is $41,574 - $53,001 annually.
